Emergency Contact / Incident Information

The U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services Office for the Southern District of Illinois has contingency plans in place in the event of a natural or man-made emergency (e.g., earthquakes, floods, pandemic, long term power outage). In case of a catastrophic event resulting in temporary closure of one or both of our government buildings, please contact the office by phone, East St. Louis 618-482-9375 and/or Benton 618-439-4828, to hear a recorded message regarding hours and the status of operations.

If you are an individual under supervision with our office, the following are specific instructions:

  • If you are on a period of supervision, it is your responsibility during a disaster to contact the office and leave a message or contact your officer to report in. You may also call our Agency Recorded Message System: (866) 638-2830 and select #3, for further instructions.
  • In the event of a catastrophe where you are evacuated and are moved to a temporary shelter, it is your responsibility to immediately inform your officer of any changes in residence, contact information or employment. Your safety is important to us. Based on the event, you may be required to temporarily relocate with very little notice, possibly out of our district. Once you (and your family) are safe, immediately contact the office and/or your officer to advise of your location and obtain further instructions. Once you relocate either back to your home or to another temporary location, again contact your Probation Officer and advise of your new location.
  • When leaving a message, clearly state your name and exact address of where you are temporarily residing. Also provide a call back number if possible. Please take your time and speak clearly when leaving a message.
